Knoxville, September 2017 - TELOS Global has started its manufacturing facility for press hardened steel, located in the USA. The start up company, part of the Eisenmann Group, is entering a prosperous market, where it offers a unique range of services and support functions to the customer.
Press hardened steel provides the basis for automobile producers and their suppliers for the development of very light parts with excellent properties. As the manufacturing process is less expensive as for similar solutions made of Aluminum and Carbon Fiber, the press hardening process is widely used in mass automobile production. Components like B-pillars, roof structures, frames up to complete door frames are in use. Today, up to 25 % of the car body and more are typically built using this methodology. With a continuous growths in use, the demand of the automobile producers for production, but also for the knowledge transfer into development and processes is rising. On this background, the German equipment specialist Eisenmann and Rick Teague, expert in press hardening, founded TELOS Global with its headquater in Caryville / Knoxville, TN. Located in a 17.000 sqm large facility, the operation of its highly sophisticated hot stamp line has just started and first production lots have been produced.
Center of competence and production facility
The location of the start up company has been chosen on purpose, as TELOS Global´s first focus is with the automotive industry in the USA. A team of specialists, combining long term experience in manufacturing, processes and equipment has been assembled in this center of competence. The site locates a tool and die shop as well as a fully automatic, production scale hot stamp line, which allows TELOS to provide the complete range of services, from prototyping up to complete manufacturing orders.
TELOS Global has started to develop its activities in the growing market of press hardened steel in the automotive sector. The light weight tendency is driving the market for equipment suppliers providing the technology. The long term production experience of its mother Eisenmann, combined with the process and manufacturing expertise of our experts provides TELOS an advantage over its competition.
Together with the customer, the team develops the specification of the entire system. Support starts long before selling the optimized production line: from consulting during the development and engineering of the component, planning and implementation of the production technology, providing prototype and sample production, up to off load production. TELOS Global covers a unique range of services throughout the value chain, including hands on training, transfer of production know-how and operational optimization.
Managing Director Axel Weiand informs, that "Telos is a full-service provider, that is consulting its customers from the very beginning - from the first pencil stroke for a product until the end of its life cycle '." We provide the resources to allow development of new components without delay and to produce directly on our production line on a production scale. That takes us above the competition".
Know How is the key for success
The availability and the further development of knowledge is important to the young company. Currently, the cooperation with the renowned GRUNDIG ACADEMY launches with a two-day seminar of press hardening. Production and team leaders as well as Managers of a number of American and European manufacturing companies will be trained on material properties and theoretical backgrounds of press hardening by such luminaries as steel expert Prof. Taylan Altan. Telos global makes an important contribution to the event, taking charge for the practical training in production, quality and laboratory testing and adherence to parameters.
Our mission is to enable new and existing participants in this industry to implement and extend hot stamp production effectively by providing all resources and support required to get into the production seamless. After its successful market entry in the USA, TELOS Global is now extending its services into the Chinese market.
