Eisenmann’s Paint Shop of the Future concept has been honored by judges at Surcar in Shanghai. The German plant engineering enterprise received the Surcar Innovation Award at the third Asian edition of the congress.
The Surcar Innovation Award is the highest accolade granted by the organizers’ technical committee and reflects the theme of the conference. The event was held in Shanghai, China, on 12 and 13 April, and focused on current automotive painting issues: smart factories, the latest technology trends in the paint industry, and ways of saving energy in the painting process. The judges were impressed by the total number of intelligent solutions submitted by Eisenmann that can be combined to create an end-to-end paint shop in the spirit of the fourth industrial revolution.
As Jan Hammermann, who presented the skidless painting concept at Surcar in China on Eisenmann’s behalf, emphasizes, “Our pioneering digitized systems make smart paint shops possible today.” Featured technologies include VarioLoc and E-Shuttle conveyors for highly versatile material and process flows. Moreover, E-Cube, a highly efficient paint removal system, and new, intelligent dryers, help to significantly lower energy consumption. As Hammermann explains: “We developed a range of resource-friendly solutions that can be interconnected to offer our customers a complete paint shop 4.0. Together, these systems ensure process flexibility, can be tailored to various batch sizes, and support automated predictive maintenance and quality assurance.” In their description of the prize winner, the Surcar judges highlighted ease of implementation and the way the individual solutions could be linked to create an integrated paint shop in line with Industry 4.0.
The Surcar Congress has been held for almost 30 years in Cannes, France. It is a highly regarded information platform and a key date in the calendar for vehicle, paint and plant manufacturers worldwide. Since 2014, there has been an Asian edition of the conference. Surcar Asia is held in Shanghai every 18 months, and enables decision makers, solution providers and users to share ideas and insights on all aspects of automotive painting technology and trends.
